− | Reflecting on the polycentric game design brainstorming sessions with some of the Dadaab students in the BHER learning center, I had a small session with Ochan Robert, who is a graduate student of York University, and also with Dahabo, who is an undergraduate student: the latter is near finishing her Bachelor degree in education with York University. Together, we brainstormed ideas for my proposed Rebuilding Mogadishu game, and I gave an overview of my game: “My game is based on the idea that Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, has also been in war for so long and I think using gaming to teach the civilians is the only way out of war and conflict, this is an important move, and developing a game model to reconstruct the capital city is one idea I hold on to”.

− | The situation and experience of the game should mitigate the depression, trauma, and stress that occurred during the prolonged wars in Somalia. The player feels stress while playing the game as they empathize with the avatar in the game. The game will make them feel they are in some other people’s worlds and stories, and in the game the player will experiences the looks of Mogadishu before the civil war, as well as how it currently how it looks. And in the game some Somali patriots may feel sorrow or even cry as they play. In the game, the future Mogadishu will looks different, and this has led us to compare the future Mogadishu game with the already-existing Konza city in Machakos Kenya, which was mapped by the Kenyan government and, as planned, Konza looks nice through artist’s imaginations and planning? The city will be a small town in Machakos: it is located 160 kilometers south of Nairobi. This city has already begun to be constructed and their hope is by 2020, Kenya will have the tallest buildings in this city in history. This is a good idea and will be a good beginning for my future rebuilding Mogadishu game, though stability and dynamic educational systems will be more important than tall building, because I will also use their ideas to make out of Mogadishu as a Konza city.

− | By negotiating increasingly complex challenges through the gameplay, my experience is that if this games we translate it to the Somali schools' system, many ideas could have emerged and improvements could have been made through the use of the Somali community. According to some of my friends I was brainstorming with, they suggested that the role of this player depends on the choice of the person playing but I support my idea that the player can take the role as a teacher coming home, along with the story and experience of “past Mogadishu”, The character in the game will serve the country after more than two decades without coming back to homeland, but had learned outside the country and came back safely to the country, trying to see how quickly he can bring meaningful change and stability to his homeland.
